Beskrivelse: Svalehalebiæder, Swallow-tailed Bee-eater
Merops hirundineus
This is taken in the Abuko rain forest in Serekunda, which is the largest town in Gambia. The butterfly is an African Caper White (Belenois aurota). Huge numbers of these are flying in the coastal area of Gambia at this time of year. At the restaurant at our hotel, they had to turn off the electric lights outside because it attracted so many of these butterflies, that it was unbearable to some guests. We loved them, though.
