Beskrivelse: Adult and juvenile.... early 'summer' but the offspring is already on the wings, - but still serviced by the adult bird - on the wire and in the air.
Beskrivelse: S. rubicola - The European Stonechat and S. torquatus - African Stonechat...both here on 'Netfugl' is called the same Danish common name
'Sortstrubet Bynkefugl' - the later might in the future be 'Afrikansk or Sydlig Sortstrubet Bynkefugl? - depending of cource on the recognition of a split. According to Avibase some regards S. rubicola as a ssp. of S. torquatus.
Beskrivelse: migrating very far... almost to the southern tip of the continent
The bird looks a lot like a worn summer bird - but here in early winter almost plain white on belly (no spots/stripes).
Beskrivelse: Cape Glossy Starling is by far more wide spread than GBS in SA.. and since the two species in the field (and on pictures) can be difficult, - I took advice from other birders. My own first impression was GBS. This was supported by KMO, - thanks for the time and advice.
Look at the prominent black tips on the wing coverts, - and the blue ear and blue belly/flanks supports the ID - (even if light and shades introduces a significant possibility for bias - on a single pic this might lead to mis-interpretation of 'actual' coloring
