Beskrivelse: Finally a new tick for this fall !!! We probably flushed this bird the day before in the front door of the guesthouse under the hard rain. Now it was refund over the main shop in Vila Do Corvo, Azores.
Beskrivelse: That's what I call 'finishing in glory' a family trip in Iceland !!! Bird refund after 30' and observed during at least 2 hours in a private garden of very friendly owner. It's a good kick back after the poor observation I had in October 2008 in Corvo.
Beskrivelse: This first winter lingered for almost 2 weeks on the harbour of Vlissingen. This is bird was well twitched by birders from many different countries including UK and Israel.

Beskrivelse: Last month this bird visiting different sites in U.K. before reaching North coast of France.
Apparently his name is Bird C 'sterna 2' and has been caught in the Sandwich Tern colony of Banc d'Arguin (Gironde, France) on 3 July 2003.
Ringed as followed: metal ring (FT67249) and 3 plastic rings—one white on the right tarsus, and green above yellow on the left tarsus (J Gernigon). source; birdguides.
This adult male was on a huge beach among the Sandwich Tern group who was relatively shy. Them safety distance was around 80m at least—not good for pictures. Fortunately, late in the evening the hit disappear and I was able to provide this digiscopy.
Titel: First twitchable American Royal Tern for WP
Beskrivelse: This ringed American Royal Tern pops up in Langueux estuary during high tide daily since the 9th of June 2017.
His ring has been read at close range last February in Guernesey Island. Apparently the result of it is that the bird was bord in USA last year.

Beskrivelse: After crapshoot of the bird of Fojo in 2009, it's a real pleasure to spend some hours with this species who was more visible than the previous one. Despite his unpredictable behaviour we finally managed some shots Today in the yam field of the low part of Da Ponte, Corvo.
Beskrivelse: After a full week of boring eastern wind, the hungarian team freshed arrived just match in Fojo.
The first Veery for Corvo and Azores has finally been discovered in dark slope of the Northern part of Fojo.
Beskrivelse: Great view of this enigmatic bird with good friends from different countries (Fin, S, D, B).
More pictures are visible on my website.
Unforgettable Twitch !!!
Beskrivelse: Without any sighting since the 28th, the chance to refund it was quite low. But fortunately, after more than 3 hours of intense search around midday, Thierry Janssen refund the bird in the closer roosting place and we had a perfect view of this african species for more than 30 minutes. Unfortunately, the Gull didn't stop cleaning himself until he was disturbed several times by locals.
Beskrivelse: A long trip for a 'tick & go' for a new species for my WP list (dipped in Western Sahara). 6 hours drive, half hour of run/walking to be finally in poor light front of this incredible sighting. The bird showing well all afternoon by a good number of birders.
The birds shows all the keys for 'deserti', as full plain-buffy-upperpart, whitish underpart, tertials and tail looks plain too (grey tone and more contrast in wing & tail on Asian Desert Warbler for more details use this link: http://www.vincentlegrand.com/#!album-18-63).
Beskrivelse: Still on the island for its second day, was found yesterday morning in the lighthouse valley and refund this morning in the slope of the Caldeira. Very mobile & vocal bird (singing many time).
After the split, it's gonna be the first 'Lanius borealis borealis' for WP.
Previous records:
Lanius borealis sibiricus Norway (November 1881).
Lanius borealis sibiricus Finland (March 2000).
Lanius borealis borealis Azores (October 2014).
Beskrivelse: Seems to be annual in Corvo since 2011.
2005 one bird in Cancelas.
2009 one bird in do Vinte.
2011 one bird in da Ponte & one bird in Lapa
2012 one bird in da Ponte/Pico.
2013 one bird in north Fojo & one bird in Lapa.
Beskrivelse: Finally we had to try 3 time's to see that shy and unpredictable Heron, he doesn't have any routine pattern and that make's his twitch extremely hard. Some days he was seen more than once and other's he doesn't even come to the best spot. The bird is supposed to shelter in private gardens, eating some fish in small pools. Today, he was seen flying from NE to SW flying over the Turnpike Hill playground garden to finally land on a birch behind a house of the Redbrooks Way for less than a minute. I had just 20" to provide only 2 shots of it. I won't have to come back now, freedom! We just need to wait and see what will happen with this 5th rejected sighting from cat A in WP. Stay straight or really re-think about the status of birds arrived in 1st winter, everything is in the BOURC's hands now.
