I must admit I had the birding experience of a lifetime. Amazing being surrounded by Stellers-, King- and Common Eiders + Long-tailed Ducks. Beskrivelse: Every year, during the two first weeks of August, the Sandvika beach in Vardø is the favoured place for young Red-necked Phalaropes. Max number I have registered is 600 birds (allmost all 1st-year birds) around the beach and the nearby breakwater (molo). more photos at: http://blog.biotope.no/2011/10/surfbirds-of-vard.html

Beskrivelse: Thought I would add these to the gallery. Not so many Vega Gull photos on Netfugl. Definitely an interesting bird to know more about. Also just posted a series of gull photos on our blog, with mix of northern and eastern gulls. Like stated on the blog: all gull photos on the blogpost are free to copy/use if this is of interest.
