Beskrivelse: Found by "top local gullhead" Jörgen Bernsmo on the previous day, Jan 19th. Present until 11.30 a.m., then took off and flew south, and not seen since then.
If accepted, only the fourth record for the harbour of Simrishamn, one of the best gull-harbours in Sweden.
Beskrivelse: Considered as a cachinnans x argentatus, and probably a F1-hybrid.
At a first glance, it certainly gives the impression of a Caspian. However, a closer inspection reveals some striking details:
1.
Fine streaking not restricted to hindneck as in first winter cach, but also on the ear-coverts and extending up to crown.
2.
Underparts, including throat, breast and belly more boldly and extensively patterned than cach.
3.
Not that advanced scapular moult, more similar to the average Herring Gull.

Two flight shots, showing the upper- and underwing:
1.
Probaly the most striking feature in this individual, saying that this can't be a pure Caspian, is the pale inner primaries. The four innermost primaries (P1-P4) are showing dark only on the tips, and pale outer webs, which creates the impession of a pale window on the inner hand. A pure Caspian Gull would typically show dark outer webs on the inner primaries, giving a so called "venetian blind pattern".
2.
The underwing is pale, sparsely and neatly patterned, and could have been found on a pure Caspian as well.
3.
On the right photo, note the shape of the body with the long neck, resembling Caspian.

2.
Tail pattern like a pure Caspian Gull, with a rather broad, blackish and well defined terminal band, tapering on to the sides. Rather sparsely patterned upper tail coverts.
3.
Secondary coverts on upper-wing as in Caspian.
