Titel: 2cy+ ssp. zarudnyi (top) and ssp. arundinaceus (bottom)
Beskrivelse: Comparison of the two subspecies of Great Reed Warbler.
Zarudnyi breeds in NW Iran and east from the Caspian Sea through Central Asia to NW Mongolia, Tajikistan, an NW China. Intergrades with the nominate race from the Urals and SW Siberia to NW Kazakhstan.
Zarudnyi differs from the nominate race by being paler and colder, lacking the warmer tones shown by nominate birds. Wingformula and size is similar between the two subspecies.
During spring 2016 a total of 14 Great Reed Warblers were ringed at the IBRCE. Just one bird could be determined as being subspecies zarudnyi, whereas the rest of the birds were a mix of the nominate race and intergrades.
