Beskrivelse: Sweden's second ever Western Sandpiper was seen foraging with Dunlins on some seaweed banks on 14-15 July, to the delight of hundreds of twitchers.
The first record of this species in Sweden was 24 years ago, back in August 1988.
The upper right shot was taken with iPhone 4S through Swarovski Habicht AT80 HD 25-50x @ 50x.
Fantastic picture David. Your tecknique combining iPhone with telescop produce a surprisingly good quality.
I tried with my D7 and 400mm, but the distance and heatdisturbance sunday was a barrier to good quality. I assume your pictures are taken in the evening?
What a bird....
Thanks for the compliments Søren! These shots were taken in the morning, between 03:45 and 06:00.
Yes indeed, it's possible to obtain astonishingly good results when iScoping. However, one should keep in mind that the quality of the glass in the scope and eyepiece is of great importance for the image quality. When I'm iScoping, I start to center the cam-lens on the exit pupil of the eyepiece. Then I zoom up all the way to 50x. It's not recommended to use the zoom on the iPhone, because it's a digital zoom which result in grain and noise etc. when cropping to the max. The iPhone 4S has a 8 MP sensor, thus it's better to zoom up on the image when post processing.
